RAMUNIA FABRICATORS PREPARES TO GO OFFSHORE

KUALA LUMPUR - Ramunia Fabricators Sdn Bhd's crude oil transfer pump for the Semarang field in Sabah will go off shore in February.

The COTP is worth RM1.5 million to RM1.6 million, said Ramunia Fabricators managing director Arshad Ahmad.

Ramunia Fabricators, an oil and gas engineering and heavy-fabrication group, is one of three companies awarded for the hook up and commissioning of Petronas Carigali for the period of 2004 to 2007 under its umbrella contract.

"We were awarded the umbrella contract in the third quarter of 2004," said Arshad in a statement today.

The umbrella contract is for three areas: Peninsula Malaysia operations, Sarawak operations and Sabah operations.

Petronas Carigali's umbrella contract is valued at close to RM500 million for the next three years.

The other two companies awarded the umbrella contract by Petronas Carigali are Vastalux Sdn Bhd and Shapadu Engineering Sdn Bhd.

Ramunia Fabricators, being a strong niche player in the high-growth heavy-fabrication industry, is one of only seven companies which holds a Petronas Major Fabricator License.

The company, which is wholly owned by Ramunia Holdings Bhd, will make its debut on Second Board of Bursa Securities on January 28.

Ramunia Fabricators has currently in excess of RM100 million worth of projects in its order books stretching through until the first quarter of 2006. It is also tendering for work worth more than RM1 billion for both local and international clients.
