| Speech by Dr. Daniel C.S.Ahn - Staff Gathering 2008
Chairman Ramunia Holdings Berhad Members of the Board of Directors Senior Management Members of Organizing Committee And to all participants, A very Good Evening and Salam Sejahtera Firstly, my heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes to the organizing committee for giving me this wonderful opportunity to say a few words tonight and for its immeasurable efforts to ensure our Staff Gathering 2008 became a reality without which, I am sure this gathering would not have materialized. Ladies and Gentlemen, The year 2008 of Ramunia began with a series big bang. The first news is that Ramunia Holdings Berhad acquired MMHE Yard, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of MISC Berhad, making headlines in our industries. The merging process represents an excellent opportunity for Ramunia to grow steadily while creating additional revenues, profits and added values to shareholders and employees. The imminent merging process should be seen as a golden opportunity for us to move forward with strong financial backing of MISC and Petronas. If we do not take this opportunity, someone else will. We have to ask ourselves, do we want to keep just the status quo or do we want to take that quantum leap of becoming a force to be reckoned with within the industry? If your answer is the latter, then we have to change. And that is exactly what we have done. Now with that said, the second big news is we received an award USD 685M (RM 2.2B) big Turnkey (ECPIC) contract from ONGC India. In addition, another third and fourth big contracts are coming soon. Remember, already a year and a half ago, we are supposed to have completed Abu Claster project (one tenth of B-193), but we still have not received completion certificate. Getting a project is one thing but more important is to deliver on time. That is the only way we can get repeated contract. Especially the ONGC projects have to be completed before the monsoon season starts. Otherwise 10% of contract value would be wiped out because of maximum L/D, which we can not afford. Ramunia is a profit centered company. We should make minimum 10% net profit This company is made up of people like YOU. Each and everyone of YOU who feels that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Ask yourself, are you tough enough to take up the challenge? What can you contribute towards achieving that goal? What does it take to become a true champion? We talk about challenges, and let me tell you now, right this moment, that there will be lots of challenges yet to come. Challenges within the industry, within the company, and challenges within yourself. And the biggest player is, of course, YOU. The company will always provide the support that is needed for change to take place. In return, we need your continuous support to make it happen, and this applies to all levels of personnel. We have to change our attitude towards what it takes for this company to advance. We know that there is no short cut to achieve any goals. We have to work hard diligently and efficiently. And this is the difference between mere dreamers and go-getters. Go-getters are people who work hard and stay focused on what and how to achieve goals, while at the same time creating opportunities from challenges. They are willing to face adversities and take risks ahead of them. This is the type of people we want here at Ramunia. Ladies and Gentlemen, Hard workers and go-getters have one thing in common. They think POSITIVE and they think BIG. Once they have these criteria in place, they start behaving in appropriate manner. Delivering what we promise to our clients will become our main priority and we will never compromise in the quality of services and products. There is no hidden agenda and transparency will always be the order of the day. I have faith within myself about all the hard working, focused and positive skilful personnel behind me, together with both the Senior Managers and middle Managers working side by side with me. That achieved our goals from "Millions to Billions" of getting order, now we have to deliver quality product from millions to billions on time. This is very important to Ramunia, to ensure that we are well above our nearest competitors, so that the flow of existing business continues while we become the preferred brand for new customers. Now how do we do that? We have to improve our capability of engineering, procurement, fabrication (or production) installation and commissioning. But in general, let us all work hard together starting from now, then dreams of world renowned oil and gas preferred EPC contractor come true. Being passionate is the name of the game since I believe that we have to be passionate in everything that we do. This is especially true in the business that we carry and the name that we represent. Passionate people know what to focus on and they hang on to their passion. They are like marathon runners; they focus on every step up to the finishing lines. Rather than wasting our time and energy on small ideas, we must focus on the BIG objectives and strive to achieve them. The marathoner runs on main road with strong determination, while others tend to linger to venture into the smaller streets. Let all of us be those marathon runners, and set our target to finish the race and arrive at the finishing line and be a true champion. It will happen if you truly believe in yourself. I believe in YOU. Do you believe in yourself? Ladies and Gentleman, Similarly, to be crowned as the preferred fabricators in the billions club, we have to be disciplined and we have to adhere to the core values... the Ramunia Values, which will guide us towards greater success within the company. We must not only stand firmly with our new values but also we must also believe in them; only then it will guide us towards greater success. We have "R" for RAJIN - Hard work is the basis for every success worthwhile in life. Working hard as an individual and as a team towards the company's mission and vision is a must. Hard work and persistence will form good personalities, being concerned with each other's welfare, increasing productivity and performance, upgrading the quality of services, and being competent will ensure the building of a reputable company. We have "A" for AGRESIF - Employees must always be aggressive and quick in every task. We have to be aggressive in planning, managing and executing the task, punctual, able to fulfill the standard set for each project, and aim for zero defects in our products. Also, we have to be aggressive in preserving and conserving the environment so that the resources would be continued to be available for our future generations. We have "M" for MINDA - We have to have a progressive and proactive mind to enhance the company's strength. Always think positively, rationally, and with vision, with the country's economic progress. Provide ample opportunities for all personnel for the benefit of empowering knowledge and skills for the interest of oneself. We have "U" for UPAYA - Capability to execute the task exceptionally, with utmost responsibility, full of spirit and dedication. We have to be professionals who could maintain the high quality of the work standard. Capable for self development mentally, physically and spiritually in developing the company. We have "N" for NEKAD - Determined to outline the company's direction. Has a strong conviction to increase the quality of services and to serve the people, with friendliness and with goodwill. Always strive for excellence without compromising in order to solidify the company's reputation and national progress. We have "I" for INOVASI - Innovative in our niche as an onshore fabricator, added by our Research and Development Department, and to take giant leaps in procuring our clients' trust and confidence. Uphold the importance of intellectual honesty as the basis to generate creativity and innovation plus providing the best solutions. And finally we have "A" for AMANAH - Trustworthy in any given task, putting the company policy as the first priority, implementing job with transparency, preserving the company's prestige in order to obtain both investors' and clients' confidence. With all these new values, we are able to determine where we are moving to... WE ARE MOVING TO A GREATER SUCCESS!!! We have to start to think "Big" and behave "Big" in order to prepare ourselves for challenges. We should also think globally and at the same time abide by our core values and cultures. These are the ingredients to be the true champion! As I convey my heartfelt thanks and appreciation, to all of you for your continuous support, I would also like to wish my entire colleague Happy Lunar New Year and may this year of Rat be a prosperous year for all of us.
